Born on March 1, 1990 in Essex, United Kingdom, the young actor Harry Eden continues to live with his parents in his hometown while at the same time accomplishing what some actors twice his age have not. Harry is known to have said that the musical Oliver is what inspired him to become an actor. Despite his dyslexia, Harry went to one of the more prominent theatre schools named Sylvia Young Theatre School and performed fairly well there.
In 2003, Harry played in the film Peter Pan. Additionally, his career came to a full circle soon in his young life when he was tapped to play in an Oliver Twist adaptation directed by Roman Polanski. But it was his role in Pure that set Harry apart from his contemporaries.
Pure was a film in 2002that was about10 year old kid who had a drug addict mother so deep in her vice that he had to become something of a guardian for his own mother.Harry Eden had to auditionfourteen times as well as compete against 2,500 other boy actors to win the role of the kid forced to grow up entirely too soon. Harry portrayed that 10 year old so credibly that he won anIndependent Film Award in 2003 for Most Promising Newcomer. The movie also starred recent Oscar- nominated actress Keira Knightley. At the time of the film’s release, Harry was too young to see the movie that he had been such a major part of.
Harry Eden’s acting credits are not only confined to theatre and film as he has starred on several television series. Some examples include “Real Men”, “Bleak House”, “Gentlemen Thief”, and "Foyle's War".
Interestingly, rumor has it that Harry declined portraying Harry Potter in that wildly successful series of films because he did not think the role was weighty enough. But in 2004, Harry did choose to star in the film The Lazarus Child. And 2008willcontain more film work from Harry in Flashbacks of a Fool. Even though he has accomplished so much at such a young age, he still enjoys the stuff a young man his age would. He plays a slew of sports which includes golf, football and tennis. His music interests are eclectic as he likes rockers Led Zeppelin, John Lennon and The Rolling Stones as well as rapper Nelly and R&B artist Usher. He also dabbles in surfing as a result of costarring with an actor in Peter Pan who was a surfer.
Despite these normal 17 year old interests, Harry has very serious accolades that could make any adult contemporary actors jealous. I addition to his Independent film award, Harry also won in 2003 a Manfred Salzgeber Award at the Berlin International Film Festival for Pure. His television work in the show “Real Men” has also been rewarded with a nomination for a Royal Television Society award for Best Newcomer on Screen. With such an impressive list of recognitions at such a young age, Harry demonstrates incredible potential for even more stellar performances in the future.
